The Avios Travel Rewards Programme in South Africa is now closed. You can no longer collect or spend Avios with the Avios Travel Rewards Programme. Avios remaining in your Avios Travel Rewards Programme account

If you transferred your Avios to your British Airways Executive Club account, any Avios remaining in your account or pending Avios collected after closure will be automatically transferred into this account.

Existing flight and hotel bookings with the Avios Travel Rewards Programme

    What are the benefits of joining the British Airways Executive Club?

    I'm not a frequent flyer. Will British Airways Executive Club be relevant to me?

    Flying with British Airways is just one way to collect Avios. There will be lots of other ways that you can build your balance such as through everyday spending with their global partners, as well as with the British Airways Executive Club credit card.

    Will my Avios login work on the British Airways Executive Club?

    No, you'll need to use your British Airways Executive Club details.

    Will I still be able to collect via the same partners with the British Airways Executive Club?

    Some of the partners you collected with previously will no longer be available. This includes BP, Pick n Pay, Wine-of-the-Month Club and Sotheby's. However, you will be able to collect in many of the same ways as you do today, plus there will be some exciting new global partners to collect with.

    As a British Airways Executive Club member will I be able to spend in the same way?

    You’ll be able spend in many of the ways you do today, plus you'll be able to manage your bookings online and spend on our oneworld® alliance partners.

    Can I still use Avios or Avios & Money as a member of the British Airways Executive Club?

    Yes, you can use Avios or Avios & Money for reward flights with the British Airways Executive Club. You'll also have the option to use Avios Part Payment and save money on cash flight bookings on ba.com

    Can I still buy and gift Avios with the British Airways Executive Club?

    Yes, you can.

    What if I have an existing booking?

    Don't worry, your booking is completely safe. If you'd like to make any changes to your booking please contact us.

    Are Avios worth the same as they were in the Avios Travel Rewards Programme?

    All your Avios will be worth the same with the British Airways Executive Club.

    Will I still get information about new partners and special offers?

    Yes. You'll still receive news about the best ways to collect and spend Avios if you give British Airways permission to send you marketing messages when you register your new account.

    Can I use my new British Airways Executive Club membership number to collect Avios, when making a booking with Avis?

    Yes, you must provide your British Executive Club membership number when making a booking with Avis, as you would have provided your Avios Travel Reward Programme membership number previously.

    Can I change the loyalty membership number I provided, on my Avis booking?

    Yes, you will need to call Avis to make the change or you can do this with Avis when you pick up your vehicle.

      Will I be able to make changes to or cancel an existing booking after the Avios Travel Reward Programme has closed?

      Yes, based on the terms and conditions at the time of booking any changes to existing bookings can be made by calling us on +27214 277 555*

      How do I query missing Avios?

      As long as you have moved your balance across to a British Airways Executive Club account, you can use ba.com to query any missing Avios, even if they were collected before moving.

      Should I cancel my Avios Travel Rewards Programme account if I have transferred my Avios to my British Airways Executive Club account?

      No, you don't need to cancel your account. We will close this for you once the Avios Travel Rewards Programme officially closes.

      I collected Avios that weren't showing in my account before the programme closed, will these Avios be transferred?

      Yes, now the Avios Travel Rewards Programme has closed, any Avios pending for your account, collected on flights, hotels, car hire or any of our collection partners will be automatically moved into your British Airways Executive Club. This will only happen if you have previously transferred Avios between the accounts yourself, otherwise your Avios will be lost.

    Can I spend my Avios on kulula flights?

    You can no longer convert your Avios to Travel bank credit. However, if you converted your Avios to Travel bank credit before closure you can use it as payment towards flights, at any time in the future. Find out how

    Did I have to use my Travel bank credit on kulula.com before the Avios Travel Rewards Programme closed?

    No, Avios converted to Travel bank credit doesn't expire so as long as you have converted your Avios to Travel bank credit before 31 May 2019 you can use it as payment towards flights at any point in the future.

    Are there any restrictions on which kulula.com flights I can use Travel bank credit?

    No. If you have converted your Avios into Travel bank credit you can then use it to pay toward the cost of all domestic flights sold on kulula.com. kulula operates over 400 flights per week across 14 domestic routes so you will be sure to find the route you are looking for!

    • Questions relating to other airline programmes

      What if I am an existing member of another airline programme, where Avios is the currency?

      If you're a member of AerClub or Vueling Club you will no longer be able to collect or spend your Avios, using your Avios Travel Reward Programme details. You can, however, carry on collecting Avios with our partner airline programmes by registering with them separately. N.B. You MUST use a different username, to the one you used for Avios Travel Rewards Programme, when registering with our partner airline programmes.

      Can I move my Avios between airline loyalty programme accounts?

      No this is not possible.

      Will I be able to make changes to an existing booking after closure?

      Yes, based on the terms and conditions at the time of booking any changes to existing bookings can be made by calling us on +27214 277 555*
