What is the Avios app?

Want to easily see how you can collect more Avios, track the Avios you’ve already collected and find out what you can spend your Avios on? The Avios app is the tool you need to supercharge your Avios adventures.

Download the app from the App store or Google Play store and you’ll find all your account activity, where you’ll be able to see how many Avios you’ve already collected and how close you are to your dream trip.

How to download the Avios app

Downloading the Avios app is simple, and can be broken down into just a few steps. Whether you have an Android or iOS device, the process is like downloading any other app you have added to your phone or tablet.

Head to the App Store or Google Play Store on your device and search for Avios, or click one of the icons at the bottom of this page
You will find the official Avios app, where you can then click "Download" or "Install" to add the app to your device
Once the Avios app is downloaded, you will need to sign in to your British Airways Club account
You now have access to all of the excellent features of the Avios app, enabling you to set an Avios Goal, turn on reward flight notifications, manage your balance, book reward flights, and more

Key benefits of the Avios app

With the Avios app, you can:

Refer a friend: Exclusive to the Avios app, you can earn 500 Avios for both yourself and a friend or loved one by signing up through a referral. Similarly, you can get up to five people to use your email or name as a referral to get a further 500 Avios each time.
Check your Avios balance: Stay on top of when you have collected Avios when shopping online or in-store, how much you have collected, any pending Avios, plus much more.
Set an Avios Goal and track your progress: If you are saving Avios for a flight, the app helps you keep an eye on your progress with the Avios Goal feature. You can set a Goal, see how much you have collected and stay focused on what you want to use your Avios for next.
Get Reward Flight seat alerts: Instead of regularly checking, you can turn on Avios app notifications to receive an alert when seats become available for the Reward Flights you want. This makes it easier to plan ahead and move quickly when you find a flight you want.
Link payment cards: Add all of your debit and credit cards (up to 10 in total) to make sure that you collect Avios when you shop with our in-store retailers.
Find in-store partners: You can discover all of the nearby in-store retailers we are partnered with by providing permission for the Avios app to access your location.
Receive notifications about your account: Notifications help you stay up to date without having to keep checking the app and provide useful account updates, reminders, Reward Flight seat alerts, and more.

What is goal setting on the Avios app?

Setting a Goal on the Avios app enables you to pick a destination, which could be one-way or a return trip, and save it to your account. Once it is saved, you will then be able to track your progress in Avios towards booking that trip.

This will then appear on your homepage of the app at all times, signalling how far you are away from your Goal with how many Avios you currently have, whether the dates you have set are still available, and the range of price options.

Currently, you can only set one Goal at a time, but you are able to manage it by deleting it, or changing the location. For example, if you were at first interested in going to New York, but decide to change your mind and would rather visit Cape Town, you can click on the Goal on the homepage of the app, then click on "Manage Goal" and you will be provided with a list of options, including "Delete and create new Goal".

Similarly, you can edit the dates if there are no seats available, or if you were able to book the flights with your Avios you can "Archive Goal as complete".

How to set goals on the Avios app

Setting goals in the Avios app is extremely simple, and you will have yours set up in no time at all if you follow these steps.

Open the Avios app on your phone or tablet and log in to your British Airways Club account
Click on "Set an Avios Goal" on the homepage
From there, you will be redirected to a list of Reward Flight destinations, where you will see general options like Africa,the Caribbean, Mediterranean, North America, and more
Find the destination you want within one of those categories or search directly for your preferred location, and the dates you would prefer for departure and return
Click "Continue round trip" and you will then see all of the price options for the flights using Avios, and the option to "Save as Goal" at the bottom
Now the Goal has been set, this will permanently appear on your homepage, where you can monitor your progress towards your next trip

Claim 500 bonus Avios

By referring a friend or loved one to the Avios app, you can collect 500 bonus Avios when they sign up and start collecting. In fact, you both get 500 Avios for the referral, helping them get started on their journey with Avios too.

It’s easy and free to refer someone — simply log in to the Avios app to get your unique referral link. Or you can ask your friends to enter your name after they sign up with the app to secure the 500 Avios.

You can refer up to five people to the Avios app, which means you could get a bonus of 2,500 Avios if they sign up and start collecting Avios.

What brands can you collect Avios with?

You can collect Avios with more than 2,000 brands including household favourites like Apple, John Lewis, Sainsbury's, Selfridges and many more.

Next time you or your friends are shopping, check the Avios app first. If you click on the ‘shop now’ link you’ll be able to complete your purchase as normal and collect Avios shortly afterwards.

Prefer shopping in-store? Head to the Collect tab in the app, tap the ‘shopping in-store’ icon and register your credit or debit card. You can register up to 10 different payment cards.

Then, when you use that card to shop in-store with our partners, you’ll automatically collect Avios.

Need Avios quickly? Purchase or Boost Avios

If you’re close to having enough Avios for your next flight and need a fast and reliable way to get some more, you can buy Avios using the Purchase or Boost function.

Purchasing Avios starts at £49 for 2,000 Avios and the more you buy, the more Avios you’ll get for your money.

If you have collected Avios within the last 30 days, you could also boost your Avios balance.

Simply choose the transactions you want to boost and decide if you want to increase the amount of Avios by 100%, 200% or 300%. It’s one of the most cost effective ways to get more Avios quickly.

Once you have paid for your Avios, they should be in your account within 30 minutes.

And if the flight you want isn’t available, you can sign up for Flight Alerts and we’ll send you a notification if seats become available.
