Avios part payment: what is it and is it worth it?

Avios part payment is where you can use some Avios and some cash to pay for your holiday, including flights, hotels or car hire.

There are lots of different payment options that suit a variety of needs, and the more Avios you use the less cash you pay.

Log in to your airline loyalty account and search for the flights you want to book.

Follow the normal booking journey and when you get to the summary or payment page there will be different payment options available – including part payment.

Simply select the amount of Avios you want to spend.

You can get money off your flight from as little as 500 Avios but you can only spend the Avios you have in your account, so it may be the case that you don’t have enough Avios to do part payment. If this is the case then you can increase your balance quickly in several simple ways.

You can go right ahead and purchase Avios to get you to your desired total, or you can use Avios balance booster to boost eligible transactions from the last 30 days by a factor of 1, 2 or 3.

If you decide to pay in full cash then you will be able to collect Avios, increasing your Avios balance for future purchases.

Visit Avios Hotels, sign into your British Airways Club account and search for your hotel in the usual way.

Once you’ve picked where you want to stay and the dates you want to stay there, you’ll be taken to the payment page.

There you will be given different payment options, including paying in full with cash (this is the default option), paying in full with Avios or several different options for part payment.

If you want to use part payment, simply select the option that suits you best and continue to payment in the usual way. Your Avios will automatically be deducted from your balance.
