September 2005,
Israel — A successful launch of the AVIOS
Israel Local Chapter.
The event took place in Tel Aviv with over 70 attendees including
speech technology provides and several leading end users- customers.
The purpose of AVIOS Israel is to formally build an active
speech community and a fruitful networking between the suppliers
and their clients and colleagues.
Chairing AVIOS Israel is Dr. Nava
Shaked who dedicated the first forum meeting to "Speech recognition issues and
challenges".
Participating in the first local chapter gathering were leading
members of the speech community in Israel as you can see below:
- Nava Shaked, IBM, Israel — The
challenges of an Eeffective Decision Process
- Ami Moyal,
NSC — Speech Recognition, Reality, Myths & Vision
- Raphi Nassi, Tactix — Hosted Solution for Speech
Recognition
Ofer Alt, Polyinformation — Speech Platforms & Architectures:
Easy, Quick and Efficient.

The success of this
meeting and the demand for more will hopefully lead to regular
meeting activity. The next session is planned around March
2006.
We invite other AVIOS members to visit us as speakers or guests
as we are hoping to create an interesting and unique speech
community.
